Entry requirements: An undergraduate degree is generally requested as applicants will be expected to study at Post Graduate level, however applications from practitioners without degrees, but with relevant experience, are encouraged.

Who is this course aimed at?

This new module has been created for professionals interested in developing leadership and management of early literacy and phonics.

It is relevant for all early years practitioners wishing to extend expertise in early reading and writing, and aims to provide practical support for developing leaders of literacy, based in relevant theory and supporting current legislation. 


What are the main themes?

- Understanding the effective teaching and leading of early reading and phonics
- Promoting these key skills within an early years setting
- Developing a positive reading culture within your setting
- Engaging parents with early literacy
- Leading learning and supporting and managing change
- Reflection, evaluation and action research to improve current practice and provision 
- Insights into principles and methods of research. 


How will it help my practice?


This module provides an opportunity to build and reflect on effective practice in the teaching and managing of early literacy and phonics.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and impact their own provision through research projects and tasks relating to their settings.
