early years Training and development

CREC offers a flexible way for Early Years Practitioners to gain Post Graduate accreditation. As well as our well established MA in Early Years Education modules , we now also deliver a School Centred Initial Teacher training programme, which offers a one-year, full-time, early years, school based route to qualification as a primary or early years teacher with QTS.

As well as post graduate early years teacher training, we also design, develop and implement other professional development courses and publications for early childhood policy makers, professionals and practitioners within the UK and beyond.

MA in Education (Early Years)

Our MA in Early Years Education modules are extremely popular and this year we have six brand new modules on offer, covering everything from phonics to physical activity.

Our MA modules are designed specifically for Early Years Practitioners and leaders in the Early Years and as such are offered as part-time courses which can be fitted around a busy working life.

Each course module can be taken in isolation but we encourage Early Years Practitioners not to see them as stand alone elements but as complementary components which can provide a pathway to gaining a Master’s qualification in Early Years.

School Centred Initial Teacher Training

In September 2015, through the CREC Early Years Partnership , we began delivering our School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme in Birmingham, Coventry and Solihull.

From September 2016 we have had 2 cohorts running in the West Midlands, & Cambridgeshire in which our trainee teachers will be supported to gain Qualified Teacher Status and PG accreditation.

For more information about our SCITT programme, please visit the Initial Teacher Training page.
