Children’s Friendships Matter Podcast Series

This new podcast series by Dr Caron Carter, researcher at the Sheffield Hallam University, has been created for academics, teachers, educators and parents interested in supporting and facilitating children’s friendships.

Dr Carter For has been researching children’s friendships (within the 4-11 years age phase) and how they impact upon their wellbeing, development and learning for more than a decade, Her most recent project exploring how children maintained their friendships during the Covid-19 pandemic was where the podcast series idea was born from.

Dr Carter spoke with CREC’s Prof Chris Pascal & Prof Tony Bertram, about children’s friendships and wellbeing within the context of ‘Flourishing and Wellbeing’ in Early Childhood Education and what might be learned for both practice and future research directions. The two-part episode delves into some of the issues that affect children, practitioners and teachers today; why children’s friendships are important to wellbeing, flourishing and joy. It also discusses recovery and re-entry into school and settings post Covid-19 and the role of adults.
