Getting here

+ By public transport

CREC at St Thomas Children’s Centre is located in walking distance of Birmingham city centre (15 minute walk from Birmingham New Street Station) and we encourage visitors to use public transport to get to us, if possible. We are also served by Five Ways Station (5 minute walk) for local train services on the cross city line (park and ride facilities are available at Longbridge station near the M5/M42 interchange). Multiple bus services stops are located within 5 minute walk or less and bicycle and e-scooter hire is now readily available across the city.

+ By car

Please be aware Birmingham now operates a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) meaning the most polluting vehicles are charged for entering. CREC is within the CAZ and any visitors driving to CREC should first check whether they are required to pay a daily fee should they drive through/into the area.

Use the link to check whether you are required to pay the fee: https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones

Failure to pay the CAZ charge (if applicable) will result in a fine from Birmingham City Council.

Should you decide to drive to CREC there is a small amount of free parking to the front, side and rear of the building in bays marked for the use by staff and visitors of St Thomas Children’s Centre. Outside of these bays, all parking areas in the streets around CREC are for permit holders only. Should you not be able to park within a designated bay, you would need to use one of several multi storey car parks which are a 10-15 minute walk from CREC. Inside the CAZ near the city centre there are several but the nearest is an NCP car park (B1 1DW) . Outside the CAZ (and off the ring road, allowing you to avoid the CAZ completely) is Broadway Plaza car park.

CREC accepts no liability for visitors receiving CAZ or parking fines and we do strongly encourage use of public transport to get to us.
